Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A 46-year-old woman identified as Yamuna Mandal died in a road accident on Monday morning in Behala. The incident occurred around 9:30 AM near Sakherbazar Mor when she was traveling from Raydighi to Dharmatala and was alighting from a bus. While stepping down, she lost her balance and fell onto the road.
The rear wheel of the bus ran over her immediately after she fell. Police from Thakurpukur police station arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information about the accident. The injured woman was taken to Behala Vidyasagar Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Following the incident, the police informed the woman’s family and seized the bus involved in the accident. The accident caused temporary disruption to traffic flow near Sakherbazar Mor. Eyewitnesses stated that traffic police are usually present at the location, but none were there at the time of the accident.
